New lighting for Château d’Ancy-le-Franc
LLE FLEX is an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly solution that won’t damage sensitive artworks
Location: Ancy-le-Franc/France
Products: LLE FLEX
In two of the largest rooms in the Château d’Ancy-le-Franc in Burgundy, France, a subtle new lighting solution has been installed to present the famous wall paintings and ceiling frescos in their best light – without damaging the sensitive works of art in this Italian Renaissance-style château. A further key benefit of the installed Tridonic LED strips is their efficiency: After installation, the château was able to reduce its energy consumption by 40 per cent. In the future, other rooms will be fitted with this lighting solution.
The owner of the building is aiming to complete a full restoration, including the repair and conservation of all wall paintings and ceiling frescos. The new lighting is part of this plan. The Tridonic LLE FLEX solution satisfies all of the project’s requirements: The luminaire manufacturer SDMH installed a total of 51 metres of Tridonic LED FLEX Strip – 27 metres in the Salle des Archives and 24 metres in the Chambre des Arts.
The installers also fitted various Tridonic LCU constant voltage LED drivers, which combine reliability with exemplary functions. The self-adhesive strip was mounted in a black aluminium profile on the ledges along the edges of the rooms. As well as being exceptionally easy to install, the solution boasts a discreet and modern design. The other benefits that impressed the building owner included the long service life, environmental credentials and energy efficiency of the product: The LED technology emits no IR or UV light, which prevents damage to the artworks. The new solution also reduced energy consumption by 40 per cent.
