LEDs enhance visual appeal

Location: Putian/China
Products:

In enhancing the visual appeal of its fresh produce, the Yonghui Supermarket in Putian, Fujian Province has turned to Tridonic's TALEXXengine SLE to deliver the required lighting effects with low energy and maintenance costs.

Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. was founded in 2001 and has so far developed over 300 large and medium-sized superstores across China. The company has a strong commitment to sustainability, as well as providing its customers with an enjoyable shopping experience.

The lighting at Putian was designed by Tridonic's strategic partner Shanghai Sanben Lighting Appliances Co., Ltd and uses TALEXX modules, with TALEXXconverter LCI TEC, extensively in the fresh meat and fruit & vegetable areas. The luminaires have been equipped with specially designed diffusers to ensure even illumination over the display area.

In the fresh meat area, high colour temperature LED light sources have been used to enhance the natural colour of the produce. In the fruit & vegetable area the low heat output of the LEDs, compared to conventional display lighting, is also important in avoiding over-ripening of the merchandise prior to sale. Additionally, the fact that LED light sources do not produce ultraviolet or infra-red light makes them ideal for food display applications.

Crucially, the TALEXXmodules deliver a luminous efficacy of up to 125 lm/W, so that a 42 W unit can maintain an illuminance of 3,500 lux from a height of 2 m. As well as supporting improved sales it helps Yonghui to comply with national energy-saving and carbon reduction requirements, while also reinforcing the sustainable image of the brand.
