The EU ecodesign requirements for light sources and separate control gear as well as the EU energy labelling requirements for light sources came into effect on September 1, 2021.

Most pressing for manufacturers of lighting technology as well as for OEMs are the requirements regarding energy labelling. Products now need to have new energy labels showing their energy efficiency. Products must also be registered in the EPREL database (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling).
