Zumtobel Group Award: Tridonic presents first special prize for innovation
Cornell University’s Circular Construction Lab awarded
At the Zumtobel Group Award 2021, a special prize for innovation was awarded on behalf of Tridonic for the first time.
Circular Construction Lab
The shortlisted projects were selected by an international panel of experts led by Kjetil Trædal Thorsen from Snøhetta Architects. The special prize for innovation, worth 20,000 euros, was awarded to the Circular Construction Lab at Cornell University, Ithaca, USA and their research partners for the software tool they have developed: RhinoCircular. This CAD plugin is based on expert knowledge and means that material circularity can be evaluated in the early phases of concept design. As a result, it is possible to assess the environmental effects of a building design in terms of its embodied carbon values and circularity.
